Glen B. Gainer III
Serving the West Virginia Investment Management Board as an ex officio member and Chairman of the Audit Committee, Glen B. Gainer III of Parkersburg, West Virginia,
was elected West Virginia's 19th State Auditor in November of 1992, and re-elected in November of 1996. He was educated in the Wood County public school system, graduating from Parkersburg High School in
1978. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science at the University of Charleston, and attended the Washington Center for Learning.
Auditor Gainer served in the West Virginia State Treasurer's Office from 1985 thorough 1989; served as Budget Director for the West Virginia Department of Energy from 1989 through 1991; and served as
National Accounts Representative for the John Deere & Company Insurance Division from October 1991 through December 1992. As State Auditor, he serves as the State's Official Bookkeeper, Chief
Inspector and Supervisor over Chief Inspector Division, Securities Commissioner, and Commissioner of Delinquent and Nonentered Lands; administers Social Security for employees of the State and
political subdivisions; and is responsible for receiving taxes due the State collected by sheriffs, and collects and distributes public utility taxes for the State and counties.
Auditor Gainer serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National White Collar Crime Center, and as a Trustee on the National Coalition for the Prevention of Economic Crime. He serves as
Vice-Chairman of the West Virginia Consolidated Public Retirement Board; Chairman of the West Virginia Investment Management Board's Audit Committee; and Chairman on the Interstate Commerce
Appeals Board. He also serves as a member of the Board of Public Works, Armory Board, State Municipal Bond Commission, and the Land Sales and Condominiums. Auditor Gainer is a member of the
Governor's Technology Enterprise Investment Council and is listed in Who's Who in American Politics. |
