Matthew E. Jones
Matthew E. Jones is the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operations Officer of the West Virginia
Investment Management Board (IMB). He is a Certified Public
Accountant and a Certified Cash Manager. Prior to his employment
with the IMB, Mr. Jones served as the Chief Financial Officer for
the IMB's predecessor entities, the West Virginia Board of Investments
and the West Virginia Trust Fund, Inc. He began his public
service career in 1989 with the West Virginia State Treasurer's
office where he is credited with reengineering the internal control
structure and financial reporting process for the State of West
Virginia's investment operations. He served on the task force
for the Governmental Accounting Standards Board responsible for
the development of GASB Statement 31, "Accounting and Financial
Reporting for Certain Investments and External Investment Pools."
Prior to his public service career, Mr. Jones was a Manager with
the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young.
He is a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
