This section outlines the structure of the Board of Trustees, the Representatives and Committee Members and includes brief descriptions and biographies for the Trustees, Representatives and Committee Members and key employees as well as a basic directory of current employees.

Trustees

The West Virginia Investment Management Board shall be governed by a thirteen-member Board of Trustees.  The Governor, Auditor and Treasurer of the State of West Virginia or their designees serve as members of the Board by virtue of their office.  The remaining ten members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the West Virginia State Senate.  One trustee must be an attorney experienced in finance and investment matters, and one trustee must be a Certified Public Accountant.  All appointees must have experience in pension management, institutional management or financial markets.  The term of appointment is six years.  The management and control of the West Virginia Investment Management Board is vested solely in the Trustees.  The Governor is the Chairman of the Board.

Representatives

The West Virginia Consolidated Public Retirement Board designates a Representative for each of its Participant Plans as does the West Virginia Insurance Commission for the funds under its purview (see Participant Plans).  The term of appointment for each Representative is from July 1 through June 30 of each year. Each of the Representatives may designate up to three persons (including themselves) to comprise a committee representing their respective Plan's beneficiaries. The Representatives do not have a vote but have the right to be heard at the annual meeting of the Board and are subject to the same code of conduct and requirements of confidentiality and continuing education requirements that apply to the Trustees and Committee Members.

Committee Members

Each Participant Plan may have up three Committee Members (including the Representative) who are selected by the Plan's Representative to communicate to the Board with regard to the Board's investment policy. The Committee Members to not have a vote but have the right to be heard at the annual meeting of the Board and are subject to the same code of conduct and requirements of confidentiality and continuing education requirements that apply to the Trustees and Representatives.

Executive Staff

The Executive Staff of the West Virginia Investment Management Board is comprised of the Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Investment Officer and are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the WVIMB.
